Frozen Lake Erie






Recently, Cleveland enjoyed beautiful blue skies over frozen Lake Erie. The combination makes for spectacular winter scenes.

Huckleberry Finn



As students make their way through the novel, they add drawings of key places and events to the river map. To help students visualize the size of the raft on which Huck and Jim float down the Mississippi, Barb had students trace the raft's dimensions on the classroom floor. The raft's perimeter is marked with masking tape.

For the past several weeks, Barb has been leading her English students through a study of Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn. Barb has turned the classroom into a mini Mississippi River. A large swath of brown paper, above the chalkboard at the front of the classroom, represents the mighty Mississippi.

A sinister looking snow sculpture in Tremont greeted visitors for a day or so.
The new house in Tremont is being prepared for the rental market. Electrical updates have been made and new interior doors are being hung. Soon we'll start to paint. Good thing Home Depot just opened at nearby Steelyard Commons!

Snow in Cleveland



After a long period of relatively warm weather, Ohio received a great deal of snow during the past few weeks along with severe cold. But, as you can see, despite the onset of true winter, Augie still ventures out into the wilderness! Sometimes he even wears his red sweater. (The view in the top photo is out the back door of the kitchen--looking over the deck which is now literally buried in snow.)
