New Digs

Carly and Tiffany have officially moved in to their new home - and before the week was over, already had unpacked and organized the entire house. Even Scout is settled in! This picture was taken the day of the closing.

Camden Yard

Our visits to Virginia are always memorable, and the evening we returned Michaela was no exception. The storm that blew through (see Lexi's blog for details) left us without power. However, we planned to go to Baltimore the next day to catch the Tribe taking on the Orioles, there was power at Camden Yards, so off to Maryland we headed, decked out in Indians gear. In spite of the intense heat, the Tribe prevailed. We were very impressed with Camden Yards, and had a great time.

Michaela Visits Ohio

We were thrilled to have Michaela with us for the last week in June. School was over, her parents thought she might enjoy a week away on her very own, and we had a blast! Here are a few pictures from our week together.

Other activities: reading to the new doll she received from Great Grandmama, a manicure, sharks in the sea tube at the aquarium, and watching the waves crash at Edgewater Park.

Jim and Michaela checked out the Memphis Kiddie Park, which has been around since 1952. She is in training for Cedar Point - maybe next summer?

Michaela LOVED taking care of Orphie, and he is already missing all the great care she gave him. She also found a robin's egg in the back yard (newly hatched?) and really enjoyed a fantasy exhibit at the Museum of Natural History.

Visit to Branson

Ray and Birgitta graciously hosted us for a week's vacation in Branson, Missouri. There we saw five terrific musical shows, visited the beautiful campus of College of the Ozarks, toured the Titanic museum, and visited the famous Thorncrown Chapel in nearby Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Each performance offered a unique blend of music, comedy and a patriotic salute to veterans. Many of the acts consist of generations of family members who make musical theater a true family business. More than 8 million people annually visit Branson's many musical theaters and other attractions. The Marriott resort where we stayed hosted a dinner for guests featuring a review of 14 Branson acts.

One of Branson's top attractions, the highly talented Dutton family performs in their own theater. They also own a hotel and gift store.

The Titanic museum exceeded our expectations. It features many interesting artifacts and a reproduction of the famous ship's grand staircase. We were told that the flooring of the staircase was the most expensive component. New at the time, it was called linoleum.(Yes, that is an "iceberg" in the foreground.)

Keeter Center at the Presbyterian College of the Ozarks. This building houses the College's student-run restaurant. We ate there twice because the cuisine was so divine!

Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, AK opened in 1980. It is the 4th greatest building constructed in the 20th century according to the American Institute of Architects. Its 425 windows and forest setting gives the Chapel a unique spiritual quality.

Appetizers and dinner on our balcony added immensely to our enjoyment of the Branson experience.

Melanie and Sami Visit

We were thrilled to host a visit recently by Melanie and Sami. We visited the Children's Museum, the Great Lakes Science Center and the new Cleveland Aquarium. Plus, Melanie and Sami had opportunities to meet/reconnect with family and friends. Everyone had a great time!

Latest Buzz

Here's the latest "buzz" from C-Town, not exactly in chronological order.

First stop pictorially, a barber shop in McLean, Va, where we had the pleasure of taking Nathan for a "buzz" cut. What a riot!







Nicole blew into town for a few days, and stopped by C2C to check out the new digs. If you look closely, you can see Carly giving Nicole a few pointers on how to operate a scissor lift. Nicole was "buzzing" around the warehouse in no time!






Next stop, Columbus, where the buzz is all about the curling skills of John and Patti. We got to witness one of their matches first hand, and it was exciting! We can't wait to try it sometime. The match in question was won on the very last end when Skip John slid his rock to win the game. (Forgive me if I used the terminology incorrectly.)





As Tiffany was buzzing down the highway in Florida, this picture was snapped of Carly, "Scoutalicious" and a birthday bouquet of flowers. Happy 28th!



The Hollywood buzz was all about how glam Mary Lou and Andy looked at the Oscars. We can't wait to dish with Mary Lou about who she saw, talked to, sat near...



We were buzzing around the kitchen as we designed and decorated cakes in all shapes and sizes for our first (and last?) cake decorating contest. Michaela and Nathan did an awesome job mixing icing colors and frosting their creations. Sweet!

Movers and Shakers

Straight from Columbus, Ohio on Feb. 14, 2012, Dave and Lois Zoll were the recipients of the Joined Hearts in Giving 2012 award by the Ohio Department of Aging. Criteria included being over age 60, married for at least 40 years and sharing a commitment to volunteerism. Director Bonnie Kantor-Burman and Ohio First Lady Karen Kasich flank Dave and Lois at the Governor's residence in Columbus, Ohio.

This blog may be biased, but we think Dave and Lois are by far the cutest and most outgoing couple (and the most deserving!) The link below takes you to the website that has the pictures and descriptions of each of the 17 couples honored. CONGRATULATIONS!

Another news worthy event - Anne is pictured on the "big screen" at the Washington and Lee Mock Convention held this past weekend. Anne was introducing Governor Bob McDonnell of Virginia in the photo. Zach was the political chair of the event - and there have been rave reviews for every aspect. Congrats to Zach and Anne for the extraordinary effort and outstanding results. The link below has everything you might want to know about the historic Mock Con.

Speaking of movers - C2C has purchased and moved into their own office building/warehouse this past weekend as well. It's an awesome space with great curb appeal, and the equipment has already started to roll in. Photos will be forthcoming.

And finally - one more shaker! Jim's sister, Mary Lou, along with her husband, Andy, will be attending the upcoming academy awards. They will actually be walking the red carpet and attending the awards dinner for the winners after the presentation. We want a picture, Mary!
